Development of th Family System Diagnostic Scale: From the Structural Family Therapy¡¯s Viewpoint

Abstract
This purpose of this study was to develop the Family System Diagnosis Scale and examine its reliability and validity. In order to develop such a scale, primary research and pilot study were done. 356 adolescnet families(total 1068) completed the Family System Diagnosis Scale(FSDS). All subjects were living in Seoul, Busan, Dague, Incheun, Dajeun, Ulsan, Kwangju. Using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, six subdimensions of individuation were identified : enmeshment-disengagement(16 items), parent coalition-generational coalition(6 items), flexibility-rigidity(5 items), spouse conflict resolved-unresolved(8 items), mother-child cohesion-estrangement(10 items), father-child cohesion-estrangement (10 items), A total 55 items of the FSDS were found to have a high degree of reliability and validity.
